AIEP Volunteer Network Delivers Over 65,000 Service Hours in 2017

February 1, 2018 - 1 minute read

An important approach of the Laureate network is that to contribute to positive social change we go beyond the formal education of the classroom and Instituto Profesional AIEP (AIEP) in Chile, is an excellent example of an institution that fosters a more inclusive and service-oriented society by promoting these values in their students and future graduates. The Red Voluntarios AIEP (AIEP Volunteer Network) initiative was created to give a face to AIEP’s commitment with the many communities and people it serves across Chile, and includes students, parents, faculty and staff.

In 2017 alone, the initiative involved over 7,000 AIEP members, including alumni, who volunteered for over 67,000 hours of community service. One of the most significant projects of 2017 was the reforestation of the Pumanque area, which was heavily affected by forest fires in February 2017. Volunteers from five different AIEP campuses joined forces in planting over 2,000 native species to help recover endemic vegetation in the area.

2018 will see the strengthening of the Volunteer Network initiative with even more volunteers and service projects to create an even greater impact and continue fostering the AIEP spirit of being the Best for the World.
